Honu, the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle, is the only indigenous reptile in Hawaii. It’s population has been protected and recovering since being placed in the Endangered Species list nearly 20 years ago. Honu has been a symbol of good luck since Hawaiians inhabited the Hawaiian Islands. Ancient Hawaiians considered Honu a guardian spirit or Amakua.

At Thomas Deir Studios we include the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle in many tile murals. Sea Turtle art on tile is enjoyed by many of our clients.
