Appropriately named by one of Thomas’ gallery directors while he was still painting it, the “Living Reef” is a lot of life in a painting. It could be titled, the “Colorful Reef” because there are so many colors in this painting of depth and drama. There are shrimp, starfish, shells, hammerhead sharks, a turtle, coral reefs, and fishes of all kinds. Vertical compositions command reverence and respect. Horizontal compositions are peaceful and relaxing. The horizontal version of this is titled “Save Our Reefs!”
